This small textile piece was initially created in response to a workshop led by Valerie S Goodwin* - who inspired me to return to my interest in mapping and to experiment with existing and new materials.
I used lightly painted silk organza on top of organdie, which was lovely to work with - and far better in feel and drape than my previous attempts with polyester organza.
I wanted to make a small map of Foggintor Quarry, special to me for the memory and the anticipation. The rocky cliffs, where I enjoyed abseiling with a couple of good friends, a few years ago; the shallow, clear water, where I look forward to enjoying wild swimming, when appropriate.
